I enjoyed my time working with the people and the donors during my time at Red Cross. Makes it impossible to have a personal schedule. Some days you would work 6-2, other times you would work 12-8. ![]() Meanwhile, my managers are always taking a day off every other week. They have to take a day off to go to a doctor's appointment and Red Cross makes it very difficult for them to do it. I'm not talking like they're taking a day off to go to a concert or anything. Co-workers at my level have difficulties taking time off for personal reasons. Co-workers bragging about people quitting a lot However, I picked up a bunch of red flags during my time here thinking that I wouldn't like this job. You get to help people by drawing their blood, learning medical knowledge, and driving cars around (I didn't like the driving aspect). It was pretty cool being a phlebotomist for the first eight weeks of working here. I have had so many good times and would’ve gone on to highly recommend this workplace if it wasn’t for the outright fascist lying upper management of the NY region Biomedical services of the American Red Cross They do what they want in any way that fits their agenda. They claim to do everything by procedure but that is an outright lie. One person will be reprimanded where another is praised. The American Red Cross’s upper management has zero concern for safety of their employees and has a history of saying one thing and then blatantly negating it. Upper management’s ONLY concern is the numbers, as long as you and your team don’t get in the way of the number of units coming in you’re in the clear. I actually enjoyed my time at the Red Cross despite the way we were treated like absolute dirt. Blithely ignores the needs of their employees while putting on the facade that we are all “a big family”. However for a humanitarian organization they have no human interest. It’s easy and fun work if you actually pay attention. ![]() This job is amazing for someone with no life outside of work. ![]()
